Conditions of darker skin tones
People with darker skin tones are the largest population on earth. It means that they are covering tribes from the deepest part of Africa and the Caribbean, natives in America, nomads from the desert in Middle-East, indigenous people from South-America, aborigine in Oceania, South East-Asian with finally the diaspora following up to the Western countries.
Darker skin tones are less likely to experience a sunburn, but the risk is still there. Daily use of sun cream will also help keep a pigmented area from becoming darker. One of the biggest myth is that darker skin tones do not need protection against the sun, but dark skin comes in different shades so you should always use sun cream as everybody else, for a good healthy skin.
Darker skin tones have more active melanocytes, which produce more lager and darker melanin grains. Pimples, scars, blemishes and especially sun exposure can lead to hyperpigmentation and dark skin is more likely to develop pigmentation problems which melanocytes are responsible for. When darker skin is exposed to different harsh environments as stress, cold climate, UV rays and pollution factor that is not the same as their original ecosystem, it becomes very vulnerable. Melyon has been focusing on ingredients in our Day Cream and Night Cream such as Niacinamide, Vitamin C and Vitamin A, that helps to reduce and smooths pigmentations among other issues that have come among darker skin but still suitable for all skin types.
Darker skin dries out quickly. Different seasons, water quality and climate are all acting as drying factor - making the skin rough and greyish. The baobab oil has excellent benefits for dry skin but also helps to repair, soften and prevent water loss from the skin. In our Melyon Detox Serum, you will find ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid that is well known for its skin benefits, especially alleviating dry skin but also Broccoli Extract that is detoxifying, anti-inflammatory, hydrating the skin and leaving it with a healthy glow.
